The Clubface Is King
Did you realise the clubface is responsible for up to 85% for the initial starting direction of the ball's flight. So, think about this one for a bit:
If you want to hit a draw, your club face must be pointing to the right, for a right-handed player, which would make it open to the target line - but closed to the path - at impact! Huh, say what! Yep, for an effective draw, the ball must begin its flight slightly to the right of the target in order to have room to curve back to the target.
The clubs path (direction it is swinging at impact) must be farther right than the club face is traveling.
When these conditions exist, the ball will always begin to the right, and draw to the left (assuming center contact and little wind interference).
